<Poem>

<Translation>
Dawn sun streams forth, lighting up the beam ends,
drums that signal the opening of city gates beginning to sound.
The dog knows the ground is damp─he sleeps on terrace stairs;
birds chatter at the window, relaying word of fair skies.
Last nigt's wine only half dispelled, head still groggy,
but my body feels light─I've just doffed my winter robes.
I wake with an empty mind, all thoughts extinguished─
these days it's seldom I dream of my old home.
